Motorola radio FAQ

Yes. We supply Motorola for purchase and rental, and we program, accessorise and service them. Send your use case for a recommendation.

Which Motorola model should I choose?

It depends on coverage, team size and whether you need digital fleet features. The MOTOTRBO R7 suits demanding sites; the XiR P6620i is a dependable fleet radio. We will match the model to your job.

Do Motorola radios need an MCMC licence in Malaysia?

Higher-power and licensed-frequency use requires an MCMC licence; we advise on the right path and supply correctly configured, MCMC-certified units.

Can you program and repair Motorola radios?

Yes. We handle channel and zone programming, fleet setup, tuning, repair and reconditioning for Motorola radios.

Can I rent Motorola radios short term?

Yes. Rent from one day to several months, with charging, repairs and replacements handled by Octogen.

Motorola model tiers: legacy analog to MOTOTRBO R7

GP328 / GP338

Classic Motorola analog portables still seen in service and inventory. Rugged and familiar — suited to straightforward voice on a single site. Often a repair, battery or accessory job rather than new supply.

MOTOTRBO XiR P3688

An entry MOTOTRBO portable that runs analog and digital, so it bridges older fleets while moving to digital clarity. A practical first professional Motorola for daily business use.

XiR P6600i / C2620

Step-up MOTOTRBO portables for teams that want better digital audio, longer feature sets and a more capable everyday radio across operations and security.

MOTOTRBO R7

Motorola’s newer full-feature digital portable — built for demanding environments where audio quality, durability and advanced features matter most.

Choosing analog or MOTOTRBO for business

Which Motorola walkie talkie is best for business in Malaysia?

For most daily business use, an entry MOTOTRBO portable such as the XiR P3688 is a practical starting point because it runs both analog and digital. Step up to the XiR P6600i / C2620 or the full-feature MOTOTRBO R7 for clearer audio and more features, or stay on legacy GP328/GP338 analog for simple voice. The right pick depends on your use case, features and budget.

What’s the difference between Motorola analog (GP328) and MOTOTRBO digital?

Analog radios like the GP328/GP338 are simple, rugged and proven for voice. MOTOTRBO digital models (XiR P3688, P6600i, R7) add clearer audio, more capacity and advanced features, and many run analog and digital so you can migrate a fleet gradually rather than replacing everything at once.
